Written by August Wilson Published in June 1986 Fences is the story of Troy Maxson and the trials and tribulations of his family. It details the struggles he has as a black man in 1950s Pittsburgh, following the illusion of the American Dream. Troy works hard to provide for his family but is often led astray by his own humanity. This website will hopefully help you understand both Troy's path and the work the late great August Wilson tried to put forth. |
